THE DICHOTOMY OF MESU
As for the topics in this historic first issue, there were a few I’ve been waiting years to break open and talk about the right way…
HIP HOP: Before The Beat Had A Name
This isn’t another surface-level look at the genre. This is a deep dive into the movement that shaped my life and millions of others. People love to say Hip Hop “started as a genre,” but that’s not how it happened. It began as action; a movement, a response, a way to survive a world that didn’t care if you were seen or heard. I’m walking readers through the real history, how it evolved, who built it, and how it became the heartbeat of entire generations.
The Line Between Runway And Reality
This is where things get honest. It’s the truth about an industry that depends on everyday consumers while pretending we don’t belong in the same room. Fashion houses build fantasy on the runway, then turn around and expect us to buy the toned-down versions they actually sell. This article touches on the ridiculousness, the brilliance, and the gap in between; the part nobody talks about but everybody feels.
Face We Show. The Self We Hide
As someone deep into psychology, and someone who lives with a comorbidity, I’ve always been fascinated by how people switch between two versions of themselves. One for the workplace. One for their private life. It’s not always intentional, and half the time they don’t even realize they’re doing it. It’s like they’re living two lives without understanding why. I’m breaking down where that comes from and why it matters more than people think.
And last, we’re covering the story, presence, and personality of our Inaugural Cover Star, Mesu. I’ve known him for years, but only recently got to see who he truly is beyond the surface. As a photographer, I’ve pointed my camera at hundreds of people. Only a few leave an impression that stays with you after the shutter clicks. Mesu is one of those people. His confidence is the kind you notice without him having to say a word, and showcasing that for readers who want to build their own version of it is something I knew this magazine had to do.
We’ll be discussing every topic in this issue together; not just in writing, but live on CONS33TED TV, getting his take on all of it in real time. That’s where the conversations open up, where the ideas get challenged, and where the truth comes out raw.
